The Mount School York

Hi, we are moving to York and are looking for a private school for our daughter. She’s very academic but also loves her performing arts. She’s capable at sports, but this is not her passion. Her dream school would be a timetable of math, English, science, dancing, singing and acting. Not sure this school exists but I’d love to hear if any of the schools in York resemble this in the slightest?🫣

The Mount is a lovely school. If you'd consider a state school, Manor CofE (you don't need to be CofE to attend!) is an arts specialist academy, and they include performing arts (dance, drama and music) in the ordinary curriculum timetable. Curriculum Information | Manor CofE. Depending on what year group your DD is in, they may have space.

Most good State schools in York will be full but The Mount is a good school, as is Bootham if you are going private

Mount would be a great choice, had / have 3 girls there. Very strong academically but also with great performing arts provision, particularly dance (going to National Finals of Great Big Dance Off), singing (2 outstanding choirs). Drama also strong; inspirational new performing arts teacher has just joined to lead. Girls also heavily involved in local and national dance / drama / singing outside School.

School also has lovely general ethos and family feel.

Yeah The Mount sounds like the best fit for her out of the three private schools actually in the city
