Just wondering how easy it would be for me to get another interview at a school (in the uk/in an international school) in a couple of years time if I decided to quit my job now to take care of my child. TIA

It massively depends on your area and your subject.

It can be trickier than people think, to be honest. There is a bit of a perception that teaching is super easy to dip in and out of but things move on very quickly and references can be tricky as well.

That isn’t to say a definite ‘don’t do it’ but this year I have been surprised at how few roles are advertised - there’s normally absolutely loads in April and may but it’s not been very busy at all, not sure why.

Then falling birth rates will eventually catch up to secondary schools as well. So be aware is my advice. I have two little children and am part time (currently three days but reducing to two for September.) That may work better, if your school is amenable?
