Tiffin vs SGS

Hi all

We're in an incredibly lucky position to have been offered a place for Y7 entry at both Tiffin and Sutton Grammar school. Both schools, I know, are fantastic academic achievers and both are commutable from our residence. My question relates to pastoral care at both schools and sports facilities. SGS doesn't have much outdoor space or as many sports activities as Tiffin which is a slight concern but we've heard that Tiffin can be ruthlessly competitve in the classroom

Would love to hear your thoughts

Thanks

Has your DS just received a place off the waiting list at one of the schools? I'm confused how he could have offers at two state grammar schools.

Well done to your son for getting offers that is an incredible achievement...

I think Tiffins has a stronger reputation... so would go with that... am sure your son would cope... how did he prepare for the 11 plus... ?

The usual 11+ practice route. A mix of tutoring (2 hours a week), practice papers and so on.

Tiffin is not ruthlessly competitive, it’s completely fine. Just go with the one with easiest commute. Your DS will excel at either if he’s self motivated and organised.
