You realise he legally has to be in education or training until he is 18?
So there needs to be a plan for 16-18. Mine is likely to be staying at the same school, and has 2 taster days for 6th form. College is the same - called preview day.

I'm fully aware of what's put in place for most children yes, and his EHCP will be updated before this septemberl with a plan of action for when he leaves. I'm also fully aware my child doesn't follow the norm and was out of school for 4 years at one point so the rules don't always apply. (through no fault of his own) unfortunately my sons school doesn't go into 6th form.

Legally yes.

In practice there are no sanctions and the most the LA can do is suggest they might want to consider doing something.

They may of course decide to change this via new education legislation, but I suspect councils will not be overjoyed.

DD will be done by mid June, but has 6th form inductions (she has applied to two schools to keep options open) and prom the last week of June. We have also been advised to keep the 28th as this is the reserve day.
