Hi everyone, my son has an EHCP in place for his ASD , and we were looking at Ashlins school in Berkhamsted (his friends will be going there), but I'm not hearing great things, particularly that the SEN support is weak. Lots of parents feeling let down. I have heard good things about Longdean School in Hemel, and that they have a good SEN support. It would mean moving house, which is fine, but just wanted to know if anyone had heard much about either schools, but mainly Longdean. Thank you :)

Longdean does have a good reputation locally for SEN, as does Kings Langley. Hemel Hempstead School also used to be reasonable but I don’t know about now. Ashlyns is honestly a bit hit and miss.

Given he has an EHCP you could consider Egerton Rothesay. Mainstream education but SEN specific with small class sizes. I know of several autistic children who went there and did exceptionally well when “standard” mainstream had let them down previously.
