Hello. Any thoughts on Chiswick School?

It seems to be on the up over recent years.

Does it stretch kids academically? Any strong points / weak points?

Thanks for any help.

I worked there doing supply for a few months 20 years ago -sincerely hope it has improved in that time.

It doesn’t have a great reputation locally.

Thanks. I had heard that the local reputation was steadily improving.

Recent results and Ofsted reports seem to show huge improvements.

I have a child in Y8. It was our first choice for him and he’s happy there. He settled in really well academically, and he’s made some good friends. I worried that with a large school the teachers wouldn’t know my child but at parents evening it was clear they did.

I have little to complain about - In year 7 there were a few disruptive kids in some of his classes but that has resolved now. Also, communication can be slower than I’d like.

I think the reputation is shifting, I do feel as though many base their opinion on Chiswick of that past rather than the school it is now. Their music and drama departments are really active and the school are now turning their focus to developing their sport provision. They just had an ungraded OFSTED inspection which was really positive.

We really loved Chiswick School when we visited—the atmosphere felt positive, balanced, and full of energy. It seems like a thriving school. The headteacher made a great impression and clearly has done a lot to turn things around. We put it down as our first choice for Year 7 in September 2025 and are happy to say we’ve accepted a place.

It is currently a great school under Laura Ellener. I have 2 children there in y11 and 8. Oldest one is currently sitting GCSEs and expecting 8s and 9s - as are many of her friends. Youngest was saying today how happy she is there. They have so many opportunities. Pastoral care is excellent although communications could be better, as I think someone else said.
