Are there any parents with children at Fortismere ? What is your actual experience of the school?
So after looking on Mumsnet I feel put off. How bad is the drug use? Do you find a child who is very well behaved and focused on studies will be ok in this school. Are you /your child happy with the school?

My children were/are very happy there, academically successful and well-supported (one with SEN). I don't think there are more drugs than in other schools- certainly not private schools! It's big and chaotic which wouldn't suit every child - you do have to be a self starter to some extent, but it also teaches self reliance. Some helicoper-y parents hate the lack of communication, but in my experience they contact you when they need to.

Also very good arts and music.

Sorry, I know it’s an old post, but would you mind sharing your opinion on the art department, please? My daughter is applying to Fortismere and APS for Art and Photography, she might want to take it to higher education too. She’s trying to decide about her first preference. Thank you!

My DS has just left Fortismere to go to a Russell Group university, and was happy there. He had a good experience doing GCSE photography, and his friend got an A* in Photography A level: the Photography department is outstanding. I can't comment on the Art teaching.
The drug use is no worse than any other secondary school. There will be some pupils who do drugs in all schools, state and private, in London and outside London. At least Fortismere doesn't have a gang culture.
