Hello, please can someone help me with a query.
If DS gets invited to the Hampton school interview, does that mean we can either expect an offer or be put on the waiting list? or does it mean we can still be rejected after the interview?
my DS will be sitting next year!

@SchoolMum1010 , yes it means all of those 3 options. Being invited to a sports scholarship test after the exam and interview can also mean all 3 options too. You don't know the outcome until results day unless you are rejected after the written exam.

If interviewed you know that your child at least passed the exam to an acceptable standard. They invite more than they offer to I believe but not certain. Other things would come into play also, interview, whether they have skills that the school wants/needs and whether they would be a good fit generally. Maybe someone with direct knowledge of admissions to popular London schools could share how interviews to offers go.

DS sat 11+ this year and is joining the school in Sep. The head and admissions team were very transparent in terms of numbers and what to expect at each stage. They shared the following numbers with applicants following the interview stage.

2025 Interview Numbers
800+ candidates sat 11+ exams
40% of candidates invited for interviews
165 will join First Year (Y7) in September 2025 (includes 25 assured places from Hampton Prep and 40 from 10+ deferred entry)

Based on the above numbers, there were 100 11+ places available and they interviewed over 3x this. The head said only a very small number are put on waitlist as they don't tend to see much movement, if any.

They are looking for boys who they believe will flourish at the school and take everything into account - exams, interviews and references from primary/prep.
