Question RE PAN for appeal

HollyJ2 · 04/03/2025 17:13

I am currently putting together my appeal which needs to be submitted by the end of March.
Is it worth putting detail of the PAN for each year and the number they have gone over by? I have gathered the information from the 2024 pupil census. Although this is not the basis of my appeal i thought it could help strengthen my case that accepting my son wouldn't have a detrimental impact due to them already going over PAN in previous years admission intake.
I had some very useful advice from a poster on my previous thread who said they mention this at the appeal hearing but wanted to know whether i should include in my written appeal or just wait to mention and ask questions at the appeal?

As a general point, don't keep anything back in terms of data etc - if you produce something at the appeal that you didn't submit beforehand, the panel can refuse to allow you to submit it. They won't take kindly to any perceived attempts to blindside a school with information that wasn't in the pack to start with.

Do you mean current pupil numbers in each year? That can indicate that a school can cope with more than PAN in a year group, but it can also bolster a school's argument that the school is already over-full overall.

If the school has previously accepted over PAN at the beginning of Year 7, that is helpful as it shows they have coped previously (though again the response will almost certainly be "yes, but it was very difficult"!)
