Wrotham Secondary School

Hi all!

Hoping for some advice from any local people.

I'm looking to move from London to one of the smaller villages on the outskirts of Sevenoaks, with my daughter starting secondary school next year.

Other than travelling back into Sevenoaks for Knole or Trinity, the next closest state school in the other direction is Wrotham School.

Is there anyone who can provide any opinion or feedback on this school? I've tried looking at previous topics on here but cannot find anything recently on this school.

Any advice greatly appreciated 😊

Thanks!

If your child is lucky enough not to get bullied or to have any mental health issues they should be fine here. However, they are well known for ignoring bullying and blaming the victim, and for ignoring mental health issues or even exacerbating them so the child can no longer cope and leaves the school.

Ok thanks for your comments. Is there a particular secondary school that has a better local reputation? The main reason for our family moving is for a better school than where we are now. Our search isn't really narrowed to a particular area as such. Thanks!

I've heard better things about Knole and Trinity.

Ok thanks. I've heard good things about Trinity too from my searches 😀

Knole has a much worse reputation for bullying and behaviour issues.

Wrotham has changed, it’s got a much better reputation now with the current head.

Did Mr. Wright and Mr. Cater leave?

@FjordPrefect It’s still Mr Cater I believe. Wrotham is also undergoing a major build so the facilities are likely going to be excellent and purpose built for the next cohorts.

Not sure which villages you are aiming for, but the catchment for Hillview in Tonbridge usually covers Sevenoaks most years. Would be worth a look if your DD is into the arts.

I had no problem with the facilities even thought they were shit back then! It was the awful pastoral care and wilful neglect/abuse that got me. I had big hopes when Mr. Cater took over, he'd seemed so nice, but he was very much a willing participant in their terrible treatment of vulnerable children.

I wouldn't
