Hampton 10+ help!!

Hello, please can anyone advise if the Hampton 10+ maths is multiple choice and how many questions there are? The test is 40 mins for maths and 30 mins creative writing. Does DS need to cover the full 11+ syllabus to pass the 10+?!

Hello, no multiple choice, it's a written test with problem solving questions, etc. The 10+ is the hardest exam at Hampton. Passing is not enough, they are looking at top candidates and it's very competitive. Much easier to get a place in 11+. Is your DS in state or private school? and what year is he in now?

Agree with @11quandary , Hampton 10plus is not an exam with a view to passing, it's an exam to prepare your dc for the process the following year and to give you some idea of where he sits in the cohort. Some ds who get offered a place don't actually go to the school a year later, it's their parents place marking for what their ds may achieve with super selective grammars or scholarships at other top schools the following year.

@lishpishposh , I remember your dd has just got a LEH offer, an option for your ds is to move him to Hampton Prep or another local prep with strong ties to Hampton School. Keep 11plus as your focus.

My ds sat KGS 10plus rather than Hampton 10 plus for exam practice only, he got into Hampton (and KGS) at 11 and has done well there. The 10 plus process was a good reference for when he asked me what the entrance exams would be like in year 6.

Thankyou both that’s so so helpful! We are currently in a private prep school and DD has just got the offer from LEH from September so Hampton for DS would be ideal.

DS got a 10plus from Hampton a few years ago. I think was standard maths and English rather than multiple choice.
