Does anyone have an academic child at King's College in Taunton?
We are considering applying for a +13 scholarship for our daughter. I have heard that subjects are set by ability, and that there are top sets for various subjects. Does anyone have any experience/insight regarding these classes please?

Did anyone reply to you about Kings? I suggest also look at Taunton School. There’s game playing & pushy parent politics with top sets at Kings. Scholarships and top set places going to not-top students (also faculty children get scholarships to lessen the tax burden on tuition benefit ...)

Pushy parents might have already pushed in before you. can’t assume your bright child gets in the correct set if you don’t know the system
I suggest Taunton as a lot of bright Kings School pupils decide not to go to the College. There’s also view that sports is priority at Kings & academics overlooked.
Sixth form most go to Richard Huish from both schools.
Taunton is part of a big schools group, seems to be run more professionally.

Thanks so much for your response.
Thankfully we didn't end up applying to King's as we didn't feel it was the right place for our daughter.
We're actually now looking at The Maynard school and Exeter School..

A lot of girls feel it’s more of a boys school…
