Maida Vale School

I am really impressed with Maida Vale School. As a teacher myself, I have been very picky about the school I have chosen but I am really pleased with the quality of teaching at MVS.
I was nervous about sending my daughter as there are more boys than girls in the school. I have noticed my daughter has become more confident, has a nice rage of male and female friends and is encouraged to get involved with all school activities.
I have taught at a wide range of schools and I can see how girls thrive at mixed schools. We need to think about girls confidence, mental health and friendship issues - in all these areas I can see that girls flourish when they work with boys.
Both my son and daughter are getting good quality teaching, an impressive range of opportunities and a lovely bunch of friends at Maida Vale School.

Are you staff and are posting this because everyone local knows the school is quite poor and parents are taking their kids out because even the local underfunded state schools get better results?

@roses2 not quite sure how you can compare when MVS still so small and new. It has only just started to produce GCSE results. Several parents have also pulled their children out of the local state school and put them into MVS.

I swear there is some kind of pro Maida Vale bot going around reviving old posts and posting positive things about this school

Maida Vale School - GOV.UK
School capacity 620
Number of pupils 171
Open date 25 August 2020

It's hugely under subscribed and in a wealthy area which tells me all I need to know.

thethirdact · 25/03/2025 21:00

@roses2 actually it's in Maida Hill which is not a wealthy area at all (it's in Westminster's Harrow Road ward, plenty of statistics online if you're interested). In the five years since it opened it has had to deal with the pandemic and now the imposition of VAT on private school fees, both of which will have hampered its ability to grow quickly. It is also competing with established private schools, some of which are hundreds of years old. There is a national teacher shortage so not an easy time to hire either. Have you read the recent very positive Independent Schools Inspectorate report on the school?

gingercat123 · 26/03/2025 10:45

Hi... I am not trying to compare it to other schools. I am saying MY children are thriving there. They are cared for and are becoming curious learners.

No worries I was responding to the comments by @roses2

What a lovely advertisement

The post reads as something written by a staff member. It’s disingenuous and does not reflect the school. There are much better options in London, whether state or private. Why hasn’t the school published its GCSE results for two years in a row?

For anyone reading this post, do a search and see all the comments. Don’t be fooled by comments written by those with a vested interest in promoting the school.
