My DC has been short listed and invited to an art scholarship assessment day at a competitive indie. I'm really hoping this means she's performed well enough in the entrance exam to at least be offered a non-scholarship place, does anyone have experience of this?

Maybe you should ask on one of the 11+ boards. If the school is fhss, I can tell you it doesn’t mean an offer, but it could at other schools.

Thank you, I'll try the other board.

hello, we are going through the process now.

does the school interview all girls? If they don’t then usually to be invited to the art scholarship session they will have done academically well enough on the entrance exam so still have a shot of a non scholarship place. Doesn’t mean they are guaranteed but does mean that they should be assessed for overall suitability not just with an Art lens and you know they have met the required academic hurdle.

For schools that interview all - it’s really hard to tell. They in theory should be assessed independently as well as with the Art lens but if they have performed poorly academically then wouldn’t be considered I don’t think for a non scholarship place and would need to hit out of the park for an art place as well (if it’s a competitive indie).

good luck to your DD! To get shortlisted regardless of a place or scholarship being extended they have done well and have a talent
