Bluecoat School3 Oldham Points

Does anyone have any experience with applications at Bluecoat School in Oldham and the Points system. We attend CoE church regularly and looking at the supplementary form would get about 150 points over a 5 year period. Is this usually enough points to be considered for a place? Thanks for any advice.

If you are applying next year (Oct 25), then I think that's almost the max anyone can get because of the allowance for Covid;

20-21 - no points
21-22 - max 33
22-23 - max 39
23-24 - max 39
24-25 - max 39

Plus 5 for baptism = 155.

No it'll be the year after the Covid restrictions end so the max will go up to 200 I think. Just wondering whether he would have a chance with less than the max.

Yes he'll have a chance. I've previously taught at Blue Coat (though I'm at a different secondary now) and there are a surprising number of applications who don't have any church points at all tbh. Is Crompton House your back up by some chance?

Yes Crompton House is also a backup (how did you guess). That's good to know. Thank you.

No worries- I've worked around schools in Oldham a long time lol

@Zae134 does blue coat have sibling criteria? 1 child got in the other one is going through appeal? Also what chances are there to win the appeal? Any help to win?

Hi - my daughter will be starting secondary school next September (2026). I just came across this post when looking for information. Do any previous mums that have been accepted to blue coat, remember how many points they had on their supplementary form? Just to have an idea if we have a good chance at being accepted when we get our points back. Thank you x

Hello! We are also considering Bluecoat :) Someone I know who's child started this year had 119 points. However I imagine it depends on the number of applicants for that year. Are many children going to Bluecoat from your child's school? x
