WA usually sends out replies end of day on the day after the end of term. So, yesterday around 16:00 would be what I would have expected. If you haven’t received anything I would contact them Monday.

WycombeAbbey2025 · 07/01/2025 12:25

Hi@mumtoAAA Did you hear back? I hope it was positive. We heard back and now hoping DD gets invited for the academic scholarship.

DibbleDooDah · 07/01/2025 14:04

@WycombeAbbey2025 Just wondering why you are so keen on being invited for the academic scholarship assessment (you’ve made two posts on the same subject)?

Your DD has already done extremely well to get a place and the full scholarship award is only a 5% fee reduction?

My DD received an offer in the last couple of years but we turned it down as she received a 50% academic scholarship to another school. WA just didn’t feel “worth it” in comparison (note, my DD wasn’t invited to the WA academic scholarship assessments but did get scholarships at the other three schools she sat for).

Scholarships are the icing on the cake but if you want WA then surely just getting a place is enough? Not trying to be goady here - I’m just genuinely interested as to why the scholarship seems to be so important?

WycombeAbbey2025 · 07/01/2025 15:56

@DibbleDooDah What is wrong with striving for academic excellence and the "icing on the cake" as you put it. What is wrong with being keen on it?

DibbleDooDah · 07/01/2025 16:04

@WycombeAbbey2025 Absolutely nothing. It’s just coming across a little bit like getting a place at one of the most academic schools in the country somehow isn’t “enough”.

For us just the offer from WA felt great and we were exceptionally proud and privileged to receive it.

The scholarships from other schools were rather unexpected, particularly the 50% one. It was something she achieved with humility and no expectation. It wasn’t actively chased or pursued. I guess we are just different in our mindsets.

WycombeAbbey2025 · 07/01/2025 16:18

@DibbleDooDah I think you are projecting here and i'm not going to delve into that. There is nothing wrong with what I wrote. " somehow isn't enough"...?? I didn't imply that the invitation is an 'expectation' or a 'right', only a desire, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with hoping and wishing...if it comes that would be fantastic. If it doesn't, we are proud and grateful for the offer received already. Where did I imply that we are ungrateful for the offer received? Please try not project your biases unto others. Thank you!

DibbleDooDah · 07/01/2025 16:53

It’s the multiple posts about the same thing, that’s all 😂😂😂. It comes across as a bit intense. Apologies if I have caused offence.

WycombeAbbey2025 · 07/01/2025 17:08

@DibbleDooDah Why apologise when you did in fact intend to cause offence? Surely you read what you wrote before posting. I am not offended, just amazed at the display you have put on here for a post that had absolutely nothing to do with you and to which you absolutely no value. Well done!

DibbleDooDah · 07/01/2025 17:16

Not once have I ever deliberately set out to cause offence online to anyone - ever. It was a genuine question. It clearly touched a nerve for which I apologised as it was not my intention.

Your response to my apology is somewhat highly strung. Let’s just leave it there?

DornfordYates · 07/01/2025 18:39

@WycombeAbbey2025
Congratulations on the offer. WA usually sends out offers to sit scholarship exams within 10 days of term starting (today).

Hope you will take up the offer regardless. It's an amazing school.

Mawali · 15/07/2025 08:09

I have a WA Junior House lilac tie and blazer pocket insert that I am happy to pass on, if someone wants it I'll pop it in the post.
My daughter has really enjoyed her first year BTW.

LSQH · 07/09/2025 01:49

It’s great to hear the positive feedback about Wycombe Abbey. My daughter just joined UIII this year and has settled in very quickly. I really hope this positive trend continues until she is in the Sixth Form.

Malki84 · 20/11/2025 13:23

Hi
My daughter has gone for assessment today , when shall we expect the results to be out , before 15 December?
Thanks

Malki84 · 20/11/2025 13:28

Hi
my DD has gone for the assessment day today so when shall we expect to hear the outcome? Was it before 15th December last year?
thanks

DornfordYates · 20/11/2025 20:34

WA always sends out the offers before the Christmas long-leave, which I believe starts on the 10th this year.

Good luck!
