We live in Cobham and are looking for a potential middle school place at ACS.

Daughter currently at local private prep, but don’t want to put her through stress of 11+ having done it with my eldest.

Does anyone know this school? Does the fact it doesn’t follow english GCSE syllabus matter? Are there a good portion of local families? Are teachers good?

Thanks

Oh Hello! I have just updated my thread 'IB schools' near Kingston!

We are about to enrol my daughter in 2025 in G9. Which is UK Year 10. We are hoping she will do a couple of AP's in Maths and English and then start the IB in G11. I grew up around there, and it's a fantastic school. We live in the Middle East but will be local again when we move over.

Actually, I recently found out my school friend has enrolled her daughters into middle school this year, and they are really enjoying it. My friend said it is a really friendly school, and the kids all seem genuinely happy. They are local and live in Walton. The facilities are fantastic. My friend said that she wanted them to extend their childhood and not go straight to secondary school. But she seems to be really happy with the school and is satisfied that they will stay till graduation. I can't really comment on the middle school too much, though, as mine is going into the High School.

Good luck!

Yes do it! My son is in G8, my daughter in G10 and I have a little one about to start nursery. We're really happy with the school. We're local British Family as well.

I know last years G12 (UK year 13) left with some of the highest Ib results. I like the flexibility of the curriculum. I'm happy if you wanna DM me?

Sorry I hadn't been on MN for an age and forgot my log ins. So I had to create a new account....😩

What did you decide, OP?

I have a friend who's 2 kids started boarding there this year, and they love it.

Good luck!

i read all the comments and they are very helpful so thank you everyone for taking their time to respond. We are loving back to UK after spending 20 years in Oman. My girls were born in the UK but all schooling done in IB curriculum in Muscat. We are contemplating moving back due to the current situation in the gulf region. My girls will be 10&13 in the summer so looking at grade 5&8 in either ACS Cobham or Egham. The latter is closer to where we will live but I am big fan of sports as being an integral part of academics. So my question is does ACS Egham get to use the facilities at its sister school in Cobham? Are the academics significantly higher in ACS Egham to overlook the lack of competition in sports? Any input would be highly appreciated.
