Dulwich College vs Caterham School

Hello.
My son has received a year 12 offer from Dulwich and Caterham. He will be a full boarding student as our family members live overseas. My son is academically strong and he aims to study computer science in top universities like Cambridge and Imperial College.
I don't know which school I should select as both of them look great.
I would greatly appreciate if you could share with us some information about the characteristics of both schools. Thank you very much.

I've met a few lads from Dulwich College and they loved it - but if your son is academically strong he'll do well at either

if my son thinks big, which school should we go?
Thank you very much.

They're both excellent so the decision would come down to preference, e.g. for location, environment, and general feel for the place. Is he able to visit the schools before deciding?

My boy is having exam with his current school in the coming 2 weeks. We are not able to visit the schools before we have to make up our mind.

I would look into what proportion or number of kids board at each school? Afaik DC is very much a day school with a small boarding facility, whereas Caterham has a much larger boarding contingent. Also look at how many are full boarders since your son will be full boarding, it would be a shame for him if the place empties at weekends.

The other obvious different is that Caterham is co ed. Do you have a preference on this? Does your son?

Academically both are strong. Caterham does have quite a tech /innovation focus, I believe it’s an Apple award school (from memory) so they may be able to offer something extra in that direction. DC perhaps more traditional. No personal experience with either though.

I would drill down into the leavers destinations for computer science at both schools. No point looking at general results - look at how many students at each take comp sci, how they do and where they go.

and also as per pp : boarding is only a small part of DC.
