Fun / Challenge type Maths for a Y9

Hello.

Are there online 'fun maths' your DC use that don't cover GCSE curriculum generally? It's for a Y9. He likes maths, top set at large state school, Kangaroo stage Maths Challenge, so decent but not Olympiad or natural genius type level.

He's in a Maths programme at school he's not really enjoying as lessons often cancelled and he doesn't find it that challenging (and it's after school), so we are thinking of stopping that and replacing it with something fun, or maybe nothing at all. He does enjoy cool maths tricks and the Maths challenge so we might just look at those, just wondering if there is anything else we might not have thought of. He's started watching a few things on YouTube but it seemed a bit random.

We don't want a tutor type thing which will duplicate his GCSE syllabus as I think he would then get bored in class and unfair on teachers etc.

Thanks.

Thank you @lobba - I think he did look at this a few years ago but will get him to have another look now he is older. I'd forgotten about it so thanks for the reminder.

Maths circles at universities. Sign up to the London maths challenge and you should get a chance to apply next year. I know of circles at London, Bristol and Warwick but I'm sure others will offer circles.
