KGS interview

Hello. My daughter has been offered an interview at 11+ with an English assessment. Maths is her stronger subject and she is worried about what the interview involves and how we can help prepare her.

Does anyone have any experience in this? Any advice appreciated

They will ask her a few English questions. If I were you I would get her to revise spelling/punctuation as well as reading a few books and being willing to explain why she enjoyed or didn't enjoy them.
They'll also ask some general questions about what she likes to do in her spare time, at school etc. What she thinks about politics/sport. The key is to be able to give an answer and some reasons for her idea.

My DC had the same interview last year (and was offered a place). It was very specific questions about a particular book - it involved comprehension particularly inference and then creating an ending of his own. He was very fortunate that he had read that book before the interview! There was time at the end to discuss other things including hobbies and what interests DC about joining KGS but that was only 5mins or so. Good luck.

My son has a general interview… they say no preparation needed, so guess they spend more time talking about hobbies and why they want to go to KGS? Or will it include topics such as current affairs? Would almost prefer the structure of a focussed interview, but hopefully will be okay. Not sure about others, but my nerves are more shot than my son’s 🤣

3 words to describe you
What are you reading
Why do you want to come to this school
What other schools have you applied to

Plus Do you have any questions?
Ask something " like what trips do you go on in year 7? "

Does anyone know what the chances of an offer are if you have had a general interview?
