Did anyone do Hampton 10+ this morning? How did you find it? My son said the maths was quite hard.

The school writes its own exams, the maths is very hard at 10 and 11 plus but some ds will still get almost full marks. Many years ago the school would have offered to mini maths geniuses but now they want strong maths and English. A proportion of those offered places won't take them up as they will get into grammars or large scholarships at other schools so it's better to think of the experience as practice for the 11 plus. Well done to your ds.

Don't be disheartened, many do not pass and then go on to get places at 11plus, a year older and wiser.

Thank you! Yes, not too invested... treating more as a practise round. Was just surprised re the maths...

I know a boy who passed 10+ and he wasn't a top performer in the local school. Very good but there were many many better kids at Maths or English

Hi, Can anyone share their experience of the 10+ interviews at Hampton? DS is scheduled to go in next week.
Do realise it is meant to be free-flowing conversations and they advise no prep, but I'm looking to understand the structure to help ease nerves

It's a few years since DS did it but was mainly a chat and I think he had to talk about an object or a picture. I think they asked him if he'd had any tutoring as well..

Hi there - thinking of the 10+ next year. What was the english exam like? Was it just creative writing only or it also involves a comprehension exercice? And the website doesn’t seem to mention any reasoning, is that correct? Thanks a lot!!

Hello, can anyone please let me know if the level of questions will be at 11+ for this or if they make it slightly easier as it is 10+?

Also for the creative writing are they given a choice for description or narrative?

Ernern · 13/12/2025 10:09

No choice for the creative writing topic. The math is as difficult as the 11+.
Hope that helps. @101010A
