Our kids are still in primary but considering Kings Ely for Y7 entrance. I can't make out from the website how selective the entrance exam is - anyone have any insight? Is it hard? Do people prep for it?

My boys have both been there from yr 1 - upper 6th. One stayed for a'levels as long as he could do food tech, he is practical and has only ever wanted to be a chef. The other is very academic and wants to be a mathematician when he finishes university. Both were championed and encouraged equally.

I think as a school they are mixed academically, however, you will strengthen your children's chances by having extra curricula things to bring to the school. Sport or music or art type thing.

However, there is huge competition to get in at year 7, if you can afford to or are inclined to you may find it easier to get in joining in year 6.
Good luck!
