AQA Science Paper Confusion

Hi.....
DS year 11 was down to take foundation paper as predicted 4 4. He has been working hard the last few weeks and has said tonight his teacher intends to put him in for higher paper but said if you don't get 5 5 you'll get U U. I can't see anything about this rule online.
If so I feel it's too much of a risk, esp as he isn't planning on science A levels.

Looking at the grade boundaries for higher AQA they go down to a 4,3 then U so you can get grades below a 5,5. However if he is getting a 4,4 foundation might be a better bet. Can he try the higher paper for mocks and see how it goes?

Yes you can gain 4-3 on the higher paper. MFL not science is my subject and there is no way I would put a 4/5 student in for H. There’s no point - you can get 5 on the F paper.

I would only consider H (which for MFL is overall much harder) for a candidate working on a confident 5, a 6 on a good day. And even then only if they really wanted to.

Thanks both.
My son did say wanted to speak to me, as he's worrier, and his teaching said I say what paper you do no one else. I will email.his form tutor see if I can get somewhere.
I agree with you.both, 2 44s predicted should be foundation paper. He's not even borderline 5 5 he's slap bang mid 4 4.
