Catholic schools CAF question

Hello,

Some parents have told me if you want a faith based school you should put only religious schools on the CAF as you are taken more seriously in regards to wanting a Catholic school? Is this actually true

Only if you're a Catholic.

Put the schools you want to go to down in order, otherwise you are going to get in a right pickle if you don’t get your first place.

No they won't take it more seriously. You'll get judged against the criteria the same no matter which schools you put

Cremacreme · 17/10/2024 15:00

@tillytoodles1 obviously we are Catholic & fulfil the required criteria.

@BaronessEllarawrosaurus thank you that’s what I assumed but the other mums had me questioning.

Not at all.

For a start, the individual schools won't know which other schools you put down. Admissions must be done by the admissions criteria and nothing else - there is no scope for a personal opinion on your mix of applications.

It is algorythm that gives the space and rarely a human being

Put your true order as you like schools. Make sure that you have at least one sure bet meaning a school that is near you and you are likely to get it. You can put it last on the list but stick it on the list. I know families who wanted to be clever and put great school from another borough and end up without the school allocation until the lists moved and then the space was made in the least popular school near she lives
