Canterbury schools

Hello all

We visited all the secondary schools in Canterbury. We really liked all of them but Canterbury Academy, spires and Archbishops get awful reviews from parents on Facebook.

Can parents with children at the school, please give me their honest opinions and experiences of:
Spires
Canterbury Academy
St Anselms
Barton Manor
Barton Court
ArchBishops

My main concerns are well-being and pastoral care.
All the schools seem huge and I’m wondering if there are too many children for staff to be able to focus and encourage all of them.

Has your child sat the Kent Test? Barton Court is a grammar school. Of the non-grammars, St Anslem seems to have the most positive reports (I'm based in one of the coastal towns).

Archbishops is a faith school so will have different admission requirements.

Are you settled in Canterbury or are you intending to buy in catchment?

And St Anselms's is a Catholic schoo, so entry requirements will differ too.

I’m aware of the entry requirements for all the schools, I just want to know peoples experiences of having children at those schools. 🙏

Barton Manor can’t be huge as it’s only been open a few years so I would imagine that has more of a small school feel . The only one I have experience of is Barton Court and we had no problem with it .

Out of curiosity, why have you ruled out whichever Langton school matches your DC's sex?
