Grammar Reserve lists

My son passed both Lancaster and Clitheroe 11 plus but because we out of catchment he hasn't got in but is 26th and 20th respectively on the list .We don't think he has a chance of getting in at Lancaster but we have heard that over the years kids have got in 20 upwards at Clitheroe. We are likely gonna put my sons first choice as Clitheroe. We heard that 700 plus took the test for Clitheroe but how many do they actually put for reserve places ? Surely If say 300 pass they won't put 120 on a reserve list ? It's also odd in Lancashire that you get to know where you are in the list so soon after results are in .

Maybe have a look at the elevenplusexams forum. They have regional boards where parents compare notes. Here's Lancashire

Just to add that with the VAT changes the more sought after state schools have really sticky waiting lists so I would take historical data with a pinch of salt.

No idea about Lancashire but local to us Dd was 7th on the reserve list and never got in.

@Darren2134 Purely out of curiosity, did your dc sit the 11+ at both schools? I assumed the tests were on the same day and time to avoid people applying for more than one.

@Darren2134 ah I see, thank you.
Sounds like he's done really well, it's going to be a nail biting wait until March to see what has been allocated.
