New Malden/Worcester Park

Hi,
If anyone knows these areas well, would really appreciate thoughts. We have 3 dc (two girls and a boy, ages 8,6 and 3) and are looking to move to the New Malden area, or possibly Worcester park. We are v fortunate to have a budget of approx 1.3mil and would like a min 4 bedroom house with a decent size garden (would be happy to do work).

We are mainly thinking about secondaries at this stage. As do most people, we want to be in a situation where grammar (eg, tiffin - obviously fully aware of how unlikely that is) is a bonus but we are in the catchment of a great comprehensive. New Malden seems to tick the boxes for coombe boys and girls (have heard good things/seem to get good results) but tiffin (and possibly one of the Sutton grammars) as bonuses, were any of ours able to get in.
Other than this, a decent high street and transport links are important. Also like that NM is so near Kingston and Richmond Park.

We wouldn’t be looking at other parts of London as this area would be near family.

The reason I mention Worcester park is that I know it is in the catchment for quite a number of the good Sutton schools and is also cheaper than New Malden, but I don’t know the area at all. It has just been an area that has been suggested to me recently.

Considering our budget and wants, would people who know the area say this seems like a realistic plan, and, is it a nice area to live?

If you have made it through this long post and know the areas, I would be hugely grateful for your thoughts!
