...how many different systems and apps have you/they had to get to grips with? We've had ...

  • School Microsoft account (for school computer network, MS Teams, Outlook etc)
  • Arbor, which is the school's communications platform and information system.
  • Dr Frost for maths
  • Two other apps I can't remember for other subjects
  • ParentPay for school lunches etc
  • An online Parents Evening system

Does it ever end?

Google classroom, sparx, sims, parentpay... there's one for Spanish too I believe.

DD is finding the having to write the answer in a book, as well as on the computer, for Sparx very frustrating

(Elder DD also had Bedrock but thats been dropped)

For child: homework on Google classrooms and the Dr Frost for Maths
For me: parentpay for lunches and other payments. School gateway for communication with school about behaviour and it shows his timetable. It looks like reports will go there too. I've also had quite a few emails. Don't know about patents' evening

2 apps for me.

DS has got loads, at least 3 subject based ones, science, maths, language that I can think of, might be another. One for tracking behaviour points, teams, some that they currently just seem to use in school such as for music and ICT.

7 different apps. Madness.

Happyinarcon · 24/09/2024 04:59

Yes, it seems to be death by a 1000 apps. There is no need to make things so ridiculously convoluted. I wonder why they do it? School in general is becoming like the Star Wars federation and parents and kids are like the rebel forces trying to avoid detection

7 apps... I have been helping Mum friends set it up as the school hasn't been helpful. Lots of confused kids. My second child at the school so thankfully I understand how to use the apps.

They changed some of them this year. No idea why, maybe it saved them money?

ClassCharts, Educake and Dr Frost so far, and will need iSAMS for reports.
