Sutton Grammar Sixth Form

Hi,

Anyone can share their comments on SGS Sixth Form? Especially the teaching quality for the maths & science A level subjects.

My son got the offer from SGS, but he wanted to stay in his comprehensive state school as the learning environment and classmates are more friendly. I want him to reconsider.

Many thanks

No experience of the school, I'm afraid, but given that 'Maths and Science' is usually a popular combination, particularly in a boys' school, is his place at SGS actually still there for him to move to? Did he actually enrol at both schools when he got his GCSEresults? (If they think they have him on roll there, surely you will have been contacted by now to find out why he is absent?).

No experience of the sixth form but in my experience of the school it is a very friendly school with good teaching, my son is very happy there.

Thanks gasha, will the School be very pushy for academic results? A bit worried about the stressed environment for an external joiner.

I don't think so as it's not a very pushy school to the children who join the school. But I can't know for sure.

it may be difficult to get hold of precise numbers but I'd imagine that a level STEM class sizes would be a lot bigger at the Sutton grammars than at the nearby comps. it's the sort of thing you ought to be about to ask people with recent, direct experience.

Thanks. My son finally decided to stay in his comprehensive school, I hope he had made a right choice.
