Hi all

It doesn’t look as though one of these threads has been set up yet so I thought I’d do it.

I have a daughter going into year 6 and a son going into year 8 next month - both will be moving to senior school in 2025.

Hello,

Does anyone know the format of the Alleyns interview? Hope not the 2.5-3 h activities we had at other schools! DD is supposed to be at a sport competition she can't really miss which unhelpfully is right in the middle of the day for about 4 hours. Unless she starts at 7am or 4pm (which I doubt school would like) we'll be having a very big dilemma!

Check if there are other days as an option and explain about match. Usually there should be another day option in case of illness etc.

Anyone hear from Kings? Last year I saw emails were going out from 11am.

Cyd4 · 13/01/2025 14:25

We were lucky enough to get an interview…very sorry for those with disappointing news. It’s a brutal process.

DreamyDreamy · 13/01/2025 14:28

No for us :(

I wrote down the 20/01 for interview invitations - but would be amazing if it was earlier!

Napoleon9003 · 14/01/2025 12:42

Last year, Hampton phoned candidates (well, their parents) to tell them they were being called for academic scholarship interviews rather than emailed. This was to let them arrange times. Good luck!

SupermarketMum · 14/01/2025 14:56

@DreamyDreamy thank you I think you’re right!

Twinklestoes198 · 14/01/2025 15:27

@SupermarketMum Alleyns is only the 20th. Does anyone know if Alleyns calls before to arrange academic or sports scholarships or all in one email? Worried about clashes

Yes - we did - via email- it was a no for us but we weren't expecting a yes on that one!

Two of the schools we are looking at will not be doing GCSEs (bar maths and English). I know there have been threads on this, but I am wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on this?

Latymer Upper and not sure of the second one, unless French or US school systems in UK. I think you would be lock into their school and not able to move at sixth form since they all look at GCSEs to move to A levels. The issue would be the universities where it is the predicted grade at A levels and GCSEs range of mark to base an offer.

Thomas’ College is the other one for us.

We’d like to find more about LUS plan too. It will be UK Univ for our child in the future so gcse does matter. There will be more info from the school for offer holder though so I am trying not to think too much ahead.

Thomas’s is more flexible but you can definitely do up to 8 GCSEs there per their fourth and fifth form booklet.
