Hi all

It doesn’t look as though one of these threads has been set up yet so I thought I’d do it.

I have a daughter going into year 6 and a son going into year 8 next month - both will be moving to senior school in 2025.

With my eldest we didn’t get the Emanuel interview date until a few days after the start of term. Term starts on Tuesday, so I’m not expecting anything until Thursday/Friday. But I hope I’m proved wrong as the waiting is horrible!

Twinklestoes198 · 04/01/2025 22:59

@SamPoodle123 thank you for the update of timings. Hopefully it will be an early email in the day to prevent further waiting and going crazy! If it does come earlier will definitely wait to tell dc the outcome till after Alleyn’s exam. The wait and uncertainty is killing us all! Might have to hibernate for the next week till all the results are out! Such a crazy time and hoping it all will go well.

2025 a big year for the kids!

Namechangenancy99 · 04/01/2025 23:23

Anyone else’s child completely lost track of time? Reminded her today that she’s got interviews (and one more exam) in the next two weeks with her first being Monday… the look on her face 🤣! And we’ve not even prepped for the final exam as she’s decided the school is now bottom of list, but it follows the same format of another school she did before Christmas so hoping it’s fine. Busy two week for us 4 interviews, two scholarship assessments and a final exam. And then the dreaded wait. Good luck to all for the last push. Still worried she’s not going to get an offer anywhere though….

11plus2nd · 05/01/2025 10:48

Only Monday exam for us then just interviews. Cant wait for the 11+ to be over.

Twinklestoes198 · 05/01/2025 12:54

Does anyone know more or less when Alleyn’s is expected to notify successful candidates of interviews? I know the date for interviews is Saturday 25th of Jan. could it be that they only let us know the week of the 20th then?

Hope last bit of prep going well! Nearly the end!

So true. Can't wait for this to be over. We have CLS, Highgate and habs in the coming days.

Hello @Aurawhammies , Did CLS get back to you with an interview date? We only received the results email in December saying they will contact us back in January about the interview dates.

Hi Dagadiga, yes. We were asked to choose one of the dates in the week starting 20th. Have you checked your spam also?

Hi @DagaDiga we got it a week before Christmas. Yes, check with the school. They might stil have lots more to process since it was holidays in between.

Sure, will do. Thank you

@DagaDiga The email was sent on 18 December to us. Good luck!

Exams over for us today post SPGS, steak night to celebrate tonight then early night for LUS interview tomorrow. Our daughter managed to almost finish everything except a small math sectional question.

Good luck to everyone.

11plus2nd · 06/01/2025 17:40

Does anyone know if SPGS interview is based on second round only or combining both rounds. As mentioned earlier, our daughter doesnt revise NVR so couldnt do NVR questions from round 1(however was still invited for round 2).
P/S: she just refused to practise NVR and never tried one

What do you mean could not do? Did she attempt them? Maybe she did well even without practicing them. Or perhaps she did really well in the other areas so they decided to overlook the NVR. But most likely she did fine w out studying how to do them.

11plus2nd · 06/01/2025 18:19

She said she couldnt do NVR questions, leaving them blank

RaspberryCake · 06/01/2025 18:30

Wondering how others found SPGS today ... My daughter found it all straight forward except maths paper B, which really tripped her up because complex maths is normally her strength. She managed to regain composure for the Comprehension and she thinks that went very well. Still have CLSG and LUS to go (+ G&L as and when they send results).

Ah, I am sure that is fine. She probably got enough correct and perhaps others could not finish.

househelp12345 · 06/01/2025 20:42

Good luck to all those sitting CLSG tomorrow!

Your daughter is terrifying and magnificent in equal measure. I hope she gets in; she’ll strike a blow for NVRphobes everywhere.

11plus2nd · 06/01/2025 21:56

This happened the same to our elder daughter who refused to practise NVR and was fine for all schools for 11+(it was LEH, SPGS first round and few questions in Godolphins). They are both very good at maths so it wasnt logical thinking issue. Their reason is because NVR is not a school subject and dont find it relevant to their future learning subjects and sitting down doing those questions are not fun(maths, writing, VR, comprehensions are fun to learn and practise).

Twinklestoes198 · 07/01/2025 06:13

Good luck to everyone writing Alleyn’s today! Last one for DC! Can’t wait for paper exams to be over! Then the wait for interviews hopefully!

Twinklestoes198 · 07/01/2025 18:14

What did everyone think of Alleyn’s today? Lots of kids there again today!

simona28 · 07/01/2025 18:28

When is the SPGS interview please and do people know what the format is? DD found Maths quite tough.

In LUS today they managed to sneak in 3 math questions in the interview and DD thinks she only got 2 out of 3 correct so is a bit despondent.
CLGS today as well - a couple of questions in math tripped her up. Wondering what the cut-off is, typically?
Also in classroom sessions, how are they assessing the students? Geography qs seemed to be v fact based so you either k ew them or didnt.

The email from SPGS with the CEM result has all the dates, I believe. From memory, results on the 15th, interviews either on the 19th or the 26th.
