I’ve spent hours on the internet, tried ringing the school, spoke to a careers advice line and we still can’t agree between us whether it’s a pass or a fail.

4 is a pass and there will be a P there

Is it a btech or Cambridge national?

Or Wales?

A Distinction at Level 1 (D1) in Cambridge Nationals Child Development is equivalent to a GCSE grade of 1-3. Cambridge Nationals are graded differently than GCSEs, but they are still worth the same1

Could you post pics of what it says on the results slip, or type out exactly what it says?

Popfan · 22/08/2024 21:52

I think it's a distinction level 1 so would be on a par with about a grade 3 at GCSE. P2 would be a 4 and M2 a 5.5.

A GCSE qualification of grade 4-9 is a level 2 qualification. Therefore a BTEC (or equivalent) student who fails to reach that will get a level 1 qualification, which will be Pass (GCSE grade 1) Merit (GCSE grade 2) or Distinction (GCSE grade 3).

It's a distinction Level 1. So a pass 2 is better. At the other end end would be a D2 so a distinction 2. I think above that is a D2* Level 2 is for 4 - 9 at GCSE and Level 1 are grades 1 - 3

So that’s a Distinction at level 1 for childcare and a Merit at level 2 for Health and Social - if you’re counting 4 and above as a “pass” at GCSE then sadly the childcare wasn’t a pass but H&S was.
