Relocation help with schools in Devon and Cornwall [Title edited by MNHQ at OP's request]

Hi all
New to Mumsnet but hoping for some help! We are looking to relocate to the south devon (perhaps totnes) or south cornwall (perhaps truro) area and I have been looking into the schools for both areas for my daughter due to go into year 7 in September... probably not the best time to move her I appreciate but it's the thought that this year is better than much later as she will hopefully have the chance to settle into the coastal life and make friends...we have only heard back from cornwall so far and the availability is low for truro area with only Penair or Brannel (st austell) being the only available secondary schools with year 7 spaces... it seems Richard Lander is the best but there is no option there atm. Would love some honest opinions on mums with knowledge of the schools and area/s if possible?!
We love a busier market town ( hence totnes or truro) but with the bonus of beaches and coves as I grew up by the sea and miss it so much. We are into dog walks, gardening, kayaking as much as bookstores, art, coffee and cake!
