We are considering this school for our DD -11+ entry. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge of this school?
Thanks.

One of my friends went there ages ago. She liked it.

It does have a reputation for being less academic than the other North London private schools, so if that's what you're looking for it might suit.

Judy1234 · 18/04/2008 22:23

It is where they go if they are not that bright but it's a nice school. It's pretty low down on any list of academic schools but very nice. We woulc have considered if if the girls hadn't gone to Habs and NLCS, if they were not able to get in there and then I suppose St Helens is second league and you down and down get to St M but not all girls are that clever and it's very good for those that aren't.

RTKangaMummy · 19/04/2008 21:10

My friends oldest DD got all 5s in SATs and she got a place at Habs but they weren't impressed at all with HABS

The girls there were very arrogant and quite rude and so were completely put off

They prefered the friendly atmosphere at St Margaret's

So they moved house and so put youngest into the PREP school there

I think the thing with St M is that there is a longer tail on the exam results.

The league tables don't show everything about a school

The happiness of the children is the most important

I do however agree that St M is not high in League tables, but my friend thought she prefered to have her DDs in a happy enviroment not with the arrogant girls that they found at HABS

Happiness or league tables

Many thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. Very helpful information. I tend to agree with RTKM about a child's happiness in school. On the issue of league tables, I've just had a look at St M's last GCSE results- 72% of grades at A or A and grades for maths were all A to B. Not bad for a school that is considered not very academic. What do you think?

What is the current thinking on St Margarets. Considering the school for 2018 entry. Had not heard of the school before yesterday. It's had a good inspection report since these posts were last made.

BubblesBuddy · 28/07/2017 21:13

I would look at Queenswood at Potters Bar if you can get there.

Jazzhonda · 29/07/2017 10:29

Thanks for this. Looked at the video. Impressive, but Potter's Bar is a little too far for us.
