Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could help me with some local advice. We are looking to move to Teddington/Ham and I would like to ensure we are in catchment for good schools. I have two boys (Yr 5 & Yr 2). I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on best primary and secondary schools in the area. Thank you so much for any advice. Best Jane

I'm on the Teddington side of the river. All the local schools are good, so don't get hung up too much on Ofsted ratings, just choose them based on preference. If you say something about what sort of schools you're looking for, that might help people give you more of a steer.

The primaries are quite easy to get into at the moment due to a drop in birth rate. The secondaries are more oversubscribed so you will need to be quite close. There is catchment distance data from previous years online so you can check where you need to live to be confident of a place at your preferred school. You do need to check individual school admission policies though. Some schools have faith admissions criteria (Catholic or CofE). Also Turing House secondary school has its main admissions point in north Teddington, so distance is measured from there for 80% of its intake, rather than from the school site. Waldegrave is girls-only.

If you live near the Teddington footbridge you could potentially be within catchment of Teddington School, Grey Court School and maybe even Turing House, but it's not guaranteed. It depends on application numbers that year.

Depends where in Ham and where in Teddington.

In Teddington close to the path you are in catchment of Grey Court and Teddington

If you move to Ham then in South Ham you are in catchment for Kingston Academy and in the catchment of Grey Court. You would also be in the Inner Catchment for Tiffin Girls if your daughter is a genius.

North Ham opens possibilities of Orlean Park and still Grey Court.

If you live on Teddington but closer to the station rather than near Hampton Wick, then you are in catchment for Turing House.
