Admissions Policy. Which one?

DS will start year 7 in September 2025 so we need to apply by October this year.

One school we like has a changing admissions policy. Does anyone know if the 2024-2025 policy applies (i.e. the academic year in which he will make his application) or 2025-2026 (i.e. the academic year in which he will be in year 7)

I assumed the former but now I'm not sure and it doesn't explain on the website!

For year 7 entry September 2025, you need to look at the policy for 2025/2026. The relevant policy is always the one for the academic year in which the pupil will be starting at the school.

(If the pupil were already secondary age looking for a mid-year place at the school now, before the end of term, the school would be using the 2023/2024 policy, and for starting year 7 this coming September, their 2024/2025 policy).

Thank you @MarchingFrogs. That makes a lot of sense.

I already have a DD in high school (a girls school so DS needs to make different choices) and their admissions policies say 'for admission in September 2025' or whatever which now I think about it is equally confusing for those making mid-year applications!

Anyway, you've made me happy because the PAN is increasing by 40 for DS's intake so we have a very good shout of getting a place if that's what he decides he wants.
