Secondary schools in Worcester park

Hi we are thinking of buying a house on clarkes avenue WP. I would like to get some advice on the area and also all of the secondary schools are like more than 0.7miles away, so do we get priority seats in the schools due to us living in WP? Is there any way to find about admissions before buying a house?

Check the Glenthorne and Cheam High admissions. I think both have priority placed in WP. Glenthorne definitely does, although it's admissions is complicated and hard to figure out. You might need to ask in local groups. Do bear in mind we have just had a peak in terms of birth rate so distances may increase a bit, although Sutton schools are always popular.

The grammar schools and selective places at Greenshaw might be an option for you. The Greenshaw places are much easier than the grammar places generally.

Hopefully this link works for you, it lists all the Sutton schools and the distances of the furthest place offered. Do consider there could have been appeal places won, or children with special considerations that meant they were given a place but live further away.

If I were you, I'd identify 4 schools that look ok catchment wise on this table and then I'd call the schools and get the furthest distance they offered over the last 3 years so you can guage what is an ok distance for your child to still get in. Also check that the schools aren't consulting on admissions or that the admission policy won't change for the year you are applying. It is all a bit of a minefield field but very sensible to research before you buy your house. Best wishes.
