Anybody know what they mean. Had an email from school giving me raw marks out of 96 but not a clue what whey mean.

Last year DS got something like 86 (can't remember exactly) and it translated to a grade 8. The grade boundaries differ year on year though so it's a bit of guess work at this stage.

You should also be aware that the mark might be moderated up or down before the final result is calculated.

Raw mark means before moderation.

It also means before the marks are scaled. So it just the basic mark out of whatever it’s out of. It’s not always out of 100.

Its scaled up to 100 as part of exam board administration.

Just to clarify.

There are 2 marks in Art. One for coursework one for exam. They both get a score individually out of x total. These are the raw marks.

They are then added together by the exam board and scaled to give a mark out of 100.

This mark is the final mark. It takes place after moderation. This is the mark for grade boundaries. Not the raw mark

I I can’t remember what coursework is marked out of. But it will be on the exam board website specification.
