Has anyone else tried to book the practice tests (https://www.sgsptamocktests.com/). Looks like they are sold out for the dates we wanted. Does anyone know if they release more dates. Don't want to pay for date we don't want if they put on more tests.

DS prep is saying if he doesn't do them is is disadvantaged as he won't have the experiences others have when they come to do the 'real' test? Has anyone else not done the mocks and still got their son in?

Would definitely recommend both the online mocks and Summer mocks. In the online ones my son was miles off the score, which enabled us to work out where he needed support with technique (pace of attempting questions in particular). By Summer he was nearer the pass but still not quite there - and then he scored well in the actual tests.

Each child is different - aside from the weekly group tutor we didn't push him to spend a great deal of time on this so the mocks were useful. For those who are taking loads of practice tests in their spare time it may be less important

They confirmed no more dates will be added.

Try the Wallington Boys Schools ones instead? They are similar and serve the same purpose. Wilson's also do them i think

Last year Wallington PTA had not introduced any comparison of text questions within their English paper wheras Sutton PTA had, to cover this area now in the SET exam.
Sutton also had a lot more spaces in total so the numbers to compare results were much greater. I appreciate this could have changed this year ?

Neither give you the papers back but in the past Sutton have provided a commentary that often comments on some of the questions that were less well done generally.

Both will give you experience of sitting an exam in unfamiliar surroundings .

Most people around us opt for the Sutton ones ( some do both) for the above reasons ,as well as the fact they have been running longer and seem extremely well organised. They do still have some dates available .

The Wallington boys tests and well run and you will get a good idea of how they cope in an exam setting and their place in the cohort.

I agree , as I said, both will give you an experience of sitting in an exam hall. I was only giving the reasons that many parents near us choose the Sutton ones.

I would add doing an early session in May gives you time to work on strategies if they do not cope as well as you thought in an exam setting. I know of some very able children who seemed confident and then had a melt down in the mock tests. With time to work on this they overcome it to do well in the actual tests.

Good luck everyone

We took a number of Mocks to prep our son prep for Sutton, who passed his R1 Exam.
We gave the Wilson PFA as well as Oxbridge Mocks. The Oxbridge ones were closer to us - held in Kingsbury and were of good quality. 34Q English format, Maths 50Q. Reasonably priced at £40 per mock and we got to take the exam paper with us for review.
FPA mocks gave us a good experience too - he got to feel the real exam environment but they did sell out towards the end - so book early!

My DS tried the Sutton SGSPTA mock yesterday and found it much longer and difficult than the Atom practice tests. Is the length of the mock similar to the real test?

Did anybody here use Atom for test practice? Is Atom useless?

Also, I read in other forum that there's Algebra questions in Stage 2, and I haven't seen that kind of questions in Atom tests
