Zero tolerance and SLANT

Hi, I've become concerned about the creeping arrival here in the Isle of Man of some zero tolerance behaviour policies and classroom strategies such as SLANT that have proved contentious in English secondary schools. I've written an article about it for a local news site :
Should we show zero tolerance to rigid behaviour strategies
Just wondered what parents' experience of some of these things has been in England, Wales and beyond and whether my concerns are founded? (Already, one secondary school has implemented a much stricter toilet regime, which has caused a bit of a kick-off.)

How was the behaviour in IOM schools prior to these behaviour policies being brought in? Normally they are brought in to improve awful behaviour in a school.

I think a bit of a mixed bag, but I don't think out of control or awful, necessarily. (Some may disagree.)
Some of the soundings I've had is they're getting tough on minor things, without addressing the major issues, and it's already starting to cheese off some of the hard-working and well-behaved, who form the majority.
