Fighting

Hi

My son was involved in an incident 1.5 yrs ago where himself and a friend were mess fighting and it was recorded. He had only started in school. It wasn't in school but they were in school uniform. I know the other boy, they are friends and both were laughing through it. Not punching more wrestling each other.

The school have now seen the video from going through another boys phone. I've meeting with school today, don't know what to expect punishment wise

The video should be date and time stamped. Can you take someone with you to the meeting? This is happening at school a lot. Video circulating. Thankfully in school they are getting strict with mobile phone use. It's hard outside of school and this was a historic incident.

If they weren't on school property it may be about general behaviour while in uniform? All schools have different policies so hard to say. Has the other boys parent been called in for a meeting?

No there wasn't actually but no suspension. Just fights going on in school and the were investigating each video they saw

the school mentioned suspension to you
so that was just a bluff?

For goodness sake @ForNaiceHiker . You need to read the thread a bit more carefully. The school didn't mention suspension to her.
Let me spell it out:

  • Random Child A was in trouble for fighting. The school is investigating.
  • Child A's phone contained videos of other children fighting, including one of the OP's child play-fighting child B. The school is investigating all the videos so arranged a meeting with the OP.
  • The OP was worried, so started this thread.
  • The meeting took place and the OP was reassured that her child is not in trouble.

End of story.

You need to read the thread more carefully

They are talking about suspension

Who are "they"? Which post are you quoting?
The op was worrying about the possibility of suspension, nothing more

Do you think they can suspend him for this alone though? They are talking about suspension

but to help you along

But then the meeting took place, she explained the circumstances, and it was fine.

Move on!

😆 !

you said the school had never mentioned suspension . They had.

so my question stands…. they were bluffing op?

You need to read the thread a bit more carefully. The school didn't mention suspension to her.
Let me spell it out:

i’m still chuckling about this 😊

Joke's on you for not referencing the post properly. 🙂

Hopebridge · 21/03/2024 14:06

It's good they checked with you. Although it's a historic video it could have been an issue. It sounds like they are being thorough. I hope you feel reassured now.

what… for posters who can’t be arsed to read a two page thread and then start lecturing about another poster having not read it?! 😆

ForNaiceHiker · 21/03/2024 14:12

i as asking the op a question
about a comment she’d made about the school talking about suspension
i didn’t think i’d have to quote back to her something she’d written the day before!

and then you barrel in like a bull in a china shop 😊

Edited

No, for posters who read it two days ago, when there have been many posts since.

Imagine it's a conversation with real people in a room:

  • Person A says XYZ
  • Lots of other people speak and the conversation progresses.
  • 2 days later Person B makes a random reference to Y.

I would expect Person B to say something like: "2 days ago, at the start of this conversation, you said 'X'. I have a question about that ..."

Some punctuation can also be helpful to people who are following the thread. 🙂

ForNaiceHiker · 21/03/2024 14:30

it’s a two page thread!!

and i was asking the op a question

not posting for the benefit of posters that can’t be bothered to read a very brief thread!

ForNaiceHiker · 21/03/2024 14:32

2 days later Person B makes a random reference to Y.

or rather a poster asks the op a question based on an earlier post the op herself made. on a very short thread
