I was wondering if year 7 gets grades or is it the same as primary .. above average, expected etc.

Thnx in advance.

It will depend on the school.

Dc1s school did grades.
Dc2 and 3's school didn't do grades till year 9 (when they were choosing options).
So probably school dependent. I think both had its advantages and disadvantages for different dc.

Dependant on the school.

We haven't got grades until Y10. KS3 gets below expected progress/expected progress/more than expected progress.

Depends on the school. DDs reports have so far been graded on behaviour towards learning for each subject: requires change, emerging, accompished, exemplary.
Then work is graded per subject: below expected, expected, above expected.

My DS's school gives grades in yr7. Also get an under/expected/over rating for each of organisation, engagement and working with others.

Depends on the school.

Also, be prepared to discount any target related grades and just focus on effort/atttitude type marks. Targets are often based on SATs extrapoloted to GCSE which renders something quite meaningless in Year 7.

Thank you everyone.
