Does anyone have an experience they would be willing to share about Wanstead High School as a secondary option? The stats look ok, but what is it like as a school? Are the children happy? Are the children supported academically at all levels? Whats the culture like within the school? I live in central london but I am looking to move further out for more space but I need to pick an area with a decent state school as we cannot afford private. Is it worth moving to this area for this school? We are used to living in multicultural and diverse area with a lot going on that keeps my kids stimulated so I also worry that we will lose this in Wanstead, but it seems like its still quite cosmopolitain despite being further out? Is this reflected in the school culture? Any insider advice would be great! Im new to mumsnet and have no idea where or how to post so please do let me know if I would be better posting this somewhere else on the site!

It has a good reputation locally and seems to be ‘on the up’. Not as good as Woodbridge in South Woodford (the next school catchment out) though.

There is loads to do for children here - maybe more sport than music compared to central but plenty of both. And multicultural. Maybe walk down Wanstead high street one afternoon after school to get an idea?

This is one of the most multi-cultural areas you can imagine. There is plenty to do after school - clubs, sports etc.
