School techy question

We've just had a letter from dd's school to say that they have installed "Ranger Outlook"on the school network so that the girls can use the files they have at school at home. Trouble is, it only works for PCs and we use MACs. Does this seem a bit of a bonkers decision on the part of the school, and is there anything you would do about it if it were you? Complain? Sigh wearily? Use some incredibly clever bit of softwear I don't know about that magically makes it compatible?

I think there is something called a Windows Simulator or Virtual Windows that you can get for Macs.

You would probably be best to ask in the Geeky Stuff section.

It depends on the age of your mac what solution to use.

If it is a fairly recent mac running on intel chips and probably at least on Tiger then you can run windows on it as well.

There may be other solutions. depends on the files she is using.

She could bring them home on a USB key, and run the MAC version of Microsoft Office....

let me know how you get on.....
