I am considering this school for my DS and was just wondering if anyone had any comments / feedback about it. He is pretty bright but not too sporty. Thanks!

Hi - happy to help. DS is in Y7 so the decision process is all very clear in my mind. DS is middle of the road academically (from what I can tell), enjoys sport but isn't particularly good and the school is brilliant for encouraging the less sporty boys.

DS joined from a state school. KCS was a stretch school and we were surprised to get an offer. We couldn't be happier with our choice. It's a wonderful school based on our initial impressions. Happy to answer any questions. Feel free to PM or post here.

Thanks! Would you describe the family background of pupils as ‘solid middle class’ or affluent middle class. DS would be coming from a state primary and wouldn’t want him to stand out as ‘the poor relation’.
Did your DS have tutoring to pass the exam? Out of interest, which other schools did you apply to as we are relatively local. Thanks again!

No problem.

I'd say there is a real spread of families. We are not in the affluent middle class but there are some super affluent families and others at the other end of the spectrum. Honestly I don't think it's an issue at KCS and I believe this is true for a lot of schools in the area.

My son was tutored from Year 5 - one session a week and also did reasoning on Atom. He did two mocks before the exams too. He did well at primary school but we were concerned that he'd be out of this depth at KCS. This doesn't seem to be the case - but we have parents evening tonight so let's see! Yes there are some extremely bright and super talented boys there but lots of smart boys with potential too and I think DS is definitely in the latter category.

He also applied to Kingston Grammar, Epsom College, St John's and Ibstock.
