We’re also still waiting for LU

Balhamdad11 · 09/02/2024 13:42

@ALongProcess we got an email. Postman hasn't come yet so don't know if they also sent a letter

Mothernearest · 09/02/2024 13:42

Thanks for the insights!

Deferred entries from last year’s Emanuel 10+ were only 9 places according to a parent there.

Regarding ethics of accepting 1200 application fees, that applies to all London indies unfortunately. Was joking with DH that schools asking for £250 application fee have made a quarter million pounds off applications alone. Bonkers!

londonlady2023 · 09/02/2024 13:42

Have people who heard from Ibstock just had offers? I feel like the lack of email isn’t a great sign for us though know it’s possible to hear in batches. Wondered if any wait list or nos from Ibstock.

IndieAnna · 09/02/2024 13:47

Unfortunately DD only has WL places :( shucks, close yet so far. Another tortuous few weeks wait for us

@londonlady2023 still waiting for Ibstock here too

Flimpychunk · 09/02/2024 13:49

Just landed and got an offer from Hampton! DS is thrilled.

Separately, I’ve also just got an email saying I’ve got an unconditional offer for a masters so its been a great start to half term despite the fact it is raining even though it never rains in Marrakesh

I hear there were 3800 applications to LU this year…not sure if true, given the written exams results were out in a week

witscreek · 09/02/2024 13:54

@Buru - definitely not true! Will be more like 1300. 3800 would be completely ridiculous!

1600 was usual in the last few years, no?

SanctusInDistress · 09/02/2024 14:14

Keep calm, and if you don’t get in, just remember that the GCSE and A level exams are the same whether you go to a grammar, private, estate school or are home educated.

Congrats @Balhamdad11

still waiting for other schools here……
@QuiteAJourney thats very true and does slightly question the ethics of accepting the registration fees for 1200 applicants!

Ethics is in keeping with all those accepting registrations for hundreds for small amount of places like LU, GL, Dulwich, Wimbledon, 11+ Consortium etc. Unfortunately, it is the London secondary schools procedure.

Pullthepin · 09/02/2024 14:15

Well done to all those with offers. Coming from a slightly different angle, son isn’t academic (good with maths, struggles with English but mostly creative and musical) sat Claremont Fan Court, along with a few other gently selective schools and non selective schools. We got rejections for CFC as well as the other selectives. CFC is our preferred school and absolutely gutted for our son. There was no mention of a WL on the rejection email, but haven’t heard of anyone on a WL? Wondering if anyone is on the WL or if they over offer and manage their drop outs that way?

lolo99 · 09/02/2024 14:21

Yes for DS, Hampton, LU, and KGS - so pleased.

It was 1400

Bewler · 09/02/2024 14:26

Bravo @lolo99 👏🏻
assume you got St George’s and Epsom too?
how will you choose?!

Lovemyyorkies · 09/02/2024 14:37

Offers here from LU, spgs ,G&l and LEH. We will for sure release LEH and most likely LU . So the WL will move.

londonlady2023 · 09/02/2024 14:39

Don’t suppose anyone has heard from Harrodian?

Wondermumof4 · 09/02/2024 14:43

Nothing from Harrodian … also waiting

ItsMeHi48 · 09/02/2024 14:46

Still waiting on Ibstock 🥴

Lolakath19 · 09/02/2024 14:49

Well done to all. So many good news today! I remember that exact day last year. For those on WL, even if it is hard to do please don t worry, it will move and you DC will find a school where they will flourish. In any cases, there is always occasional spaces that become available and nothing is set in stone if you are not happy with the choices you made. If anyone wants to reach out, our DD is at G&L and so happy about it. We chose it for the IB option :)
Enjoy your evening and celebrate your children tonight! They have all worked so hard!

farfallarocks · 09/02/2024 14:57

Still waiting for 2 schools here too, come on people!! @IndieAnna sending waitlist moving vibes

travelturtle · 09/02/2024 15:03

Mothernearest · 09/02/2024 12:53

We’ve got an offer from Ibstock but a waiting list place from Emanuel sadly. It’s our first choice. Any insights into Emanuel waiting list movements? Do we keep any hopes?

We know quite a few children who joined from the WL 2 years ago. Last year at the 10+ they had more accept that they expected so as others have said they asked a handful of parents to defer a year. My best guess is that as a result they will have been more cautious this year to avoid too many acceptances and that the WL is therefore likely to move as things shake out and people with offers there accept places elsewhere, go for grammars etc. So if it’s your top choice I wouldn’t give up on it yet, but maybe try to find out where on WL you are, roughly.

Sorry to hear. Which schools? Some WLs seem to move more than others so hang in there.
