We've had a lenovo yoga laptop for around 5 years. It lasted well as my daughter is now 10 and not the most careful with it.

I would replace like for like but obviously the newest version. I told curry's this and they recommended this laptop...

I would buy this tomorrow, just thought I'd ask for any second opinions

Things we like/ need

Storage 256gb minimum
Ram 8gb
Processor intel/ Eysenck 3/ 5

This was from the curry's salesperson

We also like the touchscreen and 360 features of our current Lenovo

Had no issues with the current lenovo other than daughter has damaged the casing, the charger and half of the number keys don't work (we just bought a usb number pad) after 3 years of her using it and dropping snacks on it, not too bad.

I'll be stricter with the new one

Any advice please or shall I just go with curry's choice replacement?

You might want to consider the size and weight of the laptop in case she has to carry it daily to secondary school (as schools are increasingly moving to doing this).

Her secondary school may have a scheme they want students to buy into - might be best waiting to see what school she is allocated and what their policy is, if the idea is she uses it for school. Other schools prefer iPads.

DD uses a laptop for everything at school due to SEN.

We found that an iPad with keyboard case and e-pen has been much better than any of the cheaper end laptops. Cost less, much lighter weight and very easy to photograph the board, graphs, images etc. Also holds a charge a lot better than the laptops do. The keyboard only needs recharging every other week.

The weight issue became really important in secondary when they are moving classroom a lot.

You can upload Office 365 for Excel, Word and so on and add things like Grammarly.

My state school gives all students a laptop, so it might be a good idea to wait until she is allocated a school. Some schools run everything through Google Classroom, mine uses MS Teams/Office 365. Is she y5 or y6? If y6, I would wait.
