Chiswick School Sixth Form

Looking for some up to date information on the sixth form. Thinking of applying for DS.
He’s interested in doing humanities subjects, currently on track for 8 / 9’s. He’s pretty happy where he is but would prefer a shorter journey to school and it would be a very easy trip in for him.

Any opinions from current parents with kids there doing humanities subjects much appreciated! In particular, English, History, Politics and Philosophy.

History and Politics are taught by inspirational teachers at Chiswick. My ds left 4 years ago but I have plenty of friends whose kids have just left or are just going in to the sixth form and both those subjects are still really high performers. Check the ChiswickW4 website for this year’s results.

@mimbleandlittlemy that's good to hear as my DC is about to join sixth form. How are they on stem A level subjects for teaching? The results seem very good. Thanks

@Xhakalaka my ds didn't do STEM and none of the kids I know have done/are doing STEM. They have all done Geography, Psychology, History, Politics and Languages, and when DS was there STEM was very ropey, but they now do have a good track record with STEM results - Oxbridge, med schools etc. Hearsay says over 400 applicants were unsuccessful for Sixth Form this year because the Sixth Form is now so popular - the school has definitely shrugged off its not great reputation, that's for sure. It was Requires Improvement when my DS was there but Miss Ellener arrived at the tail end of his time and has really picked it up but its bootstraps and it is thriving now, which is great news.

@mimbleandlittlemy thanks for your response, that's very encouraging.
