Is anyone else's schools only offering online 'parents evening' appointments for year 11 of less then 5 minutes a subject

Previous years have been the same arrangement but as this is GCSE year I would have expected more time to be available

Ours currently do this in winter term, then in spring term have a second parents evening for any child who could improve/do specific target practice again 5 min and only if teachers want to speak to you (dc1 had about 3 appointments out of 8 gcse subjects).

No dc in school but ds2’s final parents eve in yr 13 was online and it was great. Five minutes uninterrupted chat was plenty. If GCSE parents were given (say) 10 mins per subject, staff would be there till 10pm!

If you have specific concerns, do address them to the relevant staff directly - I am sure they will be happy to help

Yes, and I'm very grateful to the school for not going back to in-person parents' evenings. Online is so much easier and more efficient. If I need more time, I can arrange it with the teacher there and then.

Yes, ours is the same and I think it's great. Five minutes is generally enough to discuss one child's progress in a single subject.

The old days of having slots to meet in person (which always over ran and caused chaos) are now gone, thankfully!

Ours did this over covid, which was very annoying as the internet at school is rubbish, so the teachers were laggy and difficult to see/hear. They learned nothing, and still do things like this.

Yup- online and 5 minutes per subject in year 11. Found it was plenty of time and could follow up after if there wasn't.

5 minutes is plenty. At my kids school parents eve in 3 hours long and that's 5 minutes per pupil. Most teachers then have the other year's parents eve on other days also 3 hours long. Add this to their normal workload you really carnt expect any longer for parents evening. If you have further questions email the teacher then they can get back to you

IME parents evening at this stage inYr11 consists of a few sentences, take your pick
He's entered for the exam and he'll do well
He's entered for the exam and needs to work like hell to get a grade
He's not entered for the exam
Revise revise revise and come to my revision classes
