My son is being assessed for this next month. Would love to hear more about what’s involved from anyone who’s been through the process. In particular what tests and drills did they do for fitness and football.

At 11+ ?
They gave 9 last year (intake of 140 ish boys?)
I would say generally the "A" team standard is reasonably high, but not super special...you don't need to be under the wings of a professional club!
I'm a Hampton parent but don't know the process, however if your son is talented enough, I'm sure they will see it.
Good luck!

Do you know how many are invited for the assessment?

tennissquare · 14/01/2024 20:00

A lot, over 100 and they won't all get offers, they may get wait list offers and have wait for the waiting list to move to be offered a place. ie someone who was borderline on the maths paper may be moved up the waiting list if it turns out they are very good at football and would make the A team.

Online it talks about how far they should be able to “comfortably” run in 12 minutes. I suspect that they will set them off on a run.

Does anyone know how many went for the sports scholarship for Hampton this year?

Positivealwayss · 24/01/2024 22:31

Almost 100 I think.

My son went to the sports scholarship process this year, there were apparently approx 140 in the first round and 50-60 in the second. He has received a scholarship. I don’t know how many they have though.

Congratulations @Hann12 my boy did too.. what was your boy's primary sport?

Hann12 · 13/02/2024 21:32

Amazing, well done to him! He did rugby and athletics although he could have done football, or cricket. How about yours?
